RAHMAH FADRITAWATI

INDONESIA

Hi, my name is Rahmah Fadritawati, and most of my friends call me Diitha.

I come from Gayo, Central Aceh, Indonesia—home to the largest Arabica coffee production in Asia.

I used to believe that being born and raised in a rural village was a disadvantage. I felt small—far from the center of the world, far from possibilities. But over time, I began to see my background—growing up in the heart of farming and coffee communities—not as a weakness, but as a powerful gift. It shaped who I am and continues to guide every step I take.

Living close to the land taught me about resilience, community, and the delicate harmony between people and nature. These early lessons sparked a deep desire in me: to empower more women to rise, speak up, and lead—especially in climate action and conservation.

After more than three years working with international NGOs and organizations, I made a bold decision in 2025: to give back more directly to my community. Along with six other incredible women, I co-founded a nonprofit foundation called Yayasan Anak Kopi Gayo, dedicated to empowering youth and women across five sectors: economy, environment, health, education, and the arts. I believe that building a better future is not a solo act—we must walk hand in hand.

I am a mother of two daughters, a lifelong learner, a tech and digital enthusiast, a community development advocate, and a businesswoman. Many roles in one body—and yet, I have never once doubted my capacity. That confidence is rooted in the endless support I’ve received from the people around me.

For over a decade, I have dedicated not just my work—but my heart—to coffee and community.

What began as a personal journey in the highlands of Gayo has evolved into a lifelong calling: to make sure young people and women, especially those in rural places, are not left behind in conversations about sustainability, leadership, and opportunity.

In the past two years, I’ve designed and led training programs that go far beyond technical skills. Through workshops on capacity building, climate leadership, sustainable business, and agro-entrepreneurship, I’ve reached over 1,000 participants and mentored more than 50 young professionals. These milestones aren’t just numbers—they represent stories of women finding their voices, of youth daring to lead, and of small communities stepping into a brighter future.

And through all of this, I’ve learned one powerful truth: We rise by lifting others.

As women, we carry the responsibility—and the power—to stand up for the environment, for equity, and for each other.

And sometimes, the most revolutionary thing we can do is to share our story.

So, if you’re reading this: Would you like to join me in planting more hope, more justice, and more smiles—in the unheard corners of rural Gayo and beyond?
